CholoMama ("we", "us", "our") operates the website www.cholomama.com and the CholoMama bus-ticketing platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use CholoMama, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our services you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account & contact details — your name, mobile number and email address, provided when you book a ticket or create an account.
- Booking information — routes, dates, boarding points, passenger details and ticket history needed to issue and manage your tickets.
- Payment information — payments are processed by our payment partners (such as SSLCommerz, bKash and Nagad). We do not store your full card or wallet credentials on our servers.
- Usage & device data — basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the service secure and working well.
How we use your information
We use your information to confirm and deliver bookings, send tickets and trip updates, process payments and refunds, provide customer support, prevent fraud, and improve our services. We may send you service-related messages by SMS, email or in-app notification.
How we share information
We share only what is necessary with the bus operators you book with (to honour your ticket), with payment processors (to complete transactions), and with service providers who help us run the platform. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users. We do not sell your personal data.
CholoMama Driver app
CholoMama Driver is a separate app used only by bus drivers and trip staff — not by passengers. When a driver signs in and starts a trip, the app collects and shares some additional information:
- Location — while a trip is active, the app collects the bus's precise GPS location and shares it in real time so passengers and operators can follow the bus on the live map. To keep tracking working while the driver uses other apps or the screen is off, location is also collected in the background during an active trip; a persistent notification is shown whenever live location is on. No location is collected when no trip is active, and the driver can stop sharing at any time by ending the trip.
- Camera — the app uses the camera to scan passenger and goods QR codes for boarding. The camera is used only to read the code; we do not store photos.
- Account details — the driver's name and mobile number, used to sign in and to link the driver to the correct bus and trip.
- Notifications — we send trip and duty notifications to the driver's device.
Live location and trip data from the Driver app are used only to operate live bus tracking and the related operational records, are kept only as long as needed for that purpose, and are never sold.
Data security & retention
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information and keep it only as long as needed to provide our services and meet legal obligations. No method of transmission over the internet is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your language preference and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Your choices
You may access or update your account details, or request deletion of your data, by contacting us. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time; essential booking and account messages will still be sent.
